Attachment Therapy

With Emily Imondi, LMHC

I’m a therapist who has lived through complicated and difficult relationships, myself, and I know the toll it takes when that part of our life feels off and unrewarding.

I have lived the confusion of knowing “something is not right,” but not knowing how to change it.

Do you wonder why closeness always feels scary?
Do you repeat relationship patterns you promised yourself you would break?

You may know something is off but still find yourself pulling away, shutting down, overexplaining, or struggling to say what you actually need.

Attachment patterns are deeply ingrained. Without awareness and support, they can quietly shape your relationships and leave you in cycles that are hard to break out of.

Clients Come To Me When:

  • Trust feels difficult

  • You pull away emotionally

  • You repeat old patterns

  • Similar conflicts with different partners

  • You feel discounted

  • Boundaries are hard

  • Vulnerability is risky

“Our early relationships are the blueprint for how we connect, trust, communicate, and see ourselves.”

Attachment Therapy With Me

Attachment work starts with understanding the patterns underneath your relationships. We’ll look at what you learned about connection, what you needed growing up, and how those experiences may still show up today.

I bring warmth, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. You are the expert in your life. My role is to help you open doors and shine a light on things you may not have been able to fully see on your own.

Modalities I Use

Sometimes therapy is the first place you experience the kind of relationship you’ve been looking for. Together, we can notice what happens between us, understand it, and create new ways of relating that you can bring into the rest of your life.

Results & A New Way To Relate

Your relationships shift when you understand what’s underneath them.

Two friends

After Attachment Therapy With Me, Clients Report:

  • More ease

  • Honest relationships

  • Less combative conflict

  • Healthier boundaries

  • Choosing healthier partners

  • Less stress in daily life

One relationship may change how you see yourself. That can loosen places where you’ve felt stuck for years.

About Emily Imondi

I believe something being difficult does not mean something is wrong with you. People develop ways of coping based on what they have experienced, what they learned, and what they needed at the time.

My work focuses on helping you access the strengths that are already there.

I bring warmth and curiosity into the therapy room, along with a strong interest in the research behind the work. Clients have described me as authentic and genuine. Who I am in the therapy room is who I am when I’m talking with a friend. I don’t code switch.

I’ve also lived through relationships that were unhealthy and learned what changes when you can recognize a pattern, stop personalizing it, and prioritize your own worth. It’s okay to put yourself first. It’s okay to take the space you need to renegotiate what you want.

A little about me:  I live on Long Island with my husband and our 15-year-old Maltese Yorkie, Tyler. Outside of my work as a therapist, I love playing tennis, taking cycling classes on my Peloton, reading a good book (usually memoirs), film, theater, and standup comedy.

Availability: I provide online therapy for clients throughout New York.
